How do I stop my messages from auto-hiding?

A guy in my office has a problem with Outlook. Whenever he gets a new email,
he double clicks on the message, reads it and then closes the window and it
doesn't show up in his inbox. How do you change that setting so the messages
aren't automatically hidden?
 
I'd suggest asking this in a newsgroup related to Outlook.

This newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product that's
part of Office Professional.
