how do I stop Explorer from automatically loading?

After I updated my XP Home machine with Service Pack 2,
Windows Explorer executes automatically. I've checked
startup, I've checked autoexec.bat, I've checked Start,
Run, MSCONFIG. I don't see Windows Explorer anywhere.
It's a pain in the a-- to have to close it down every
time I tunr on my machine. How do I prevent Windows
Explorer from automatically executing at startup?
