How do I show up attachments that have been removed in Outlook?

In previous versions of Outlook when I removed an attachment from an email,
the name of the attachment would still be there on the email but with the
word 'removed' after it. Now I have upgraded to Outlook 2003 the attachment
just disappears and I don't know what attachment went with which email.

Is there a setting or something that I need to set to get this back or is
this another of Microsoft's 'improvements'?
 
I don't know of any version of Outlook with the behavior you describe. Maybe you had a third-party add-in that added that feature.
