How do I set word wrap as default for text within a drawing objec.

When create a drawing object in PowerPoint and start typing, text
automatically appears in the object. Is it possible to set word wrap within
this item as a default?

If you click on the text box icon and then click on the slide once to insert
a text box, the text box will grow with the text typed. If you click on the
icon and then draw a text box of a certain size on your slide, text will be
wrapped within this text box.

Kind regards,
Ute

Thanks... I think my question was a little misleading. What I'm trying to do
is draw an object of a specific fixed size, and then attach a text box to it
by holding the shift key and clicking on the object - the object then has a
built in text box that doesn't alter the size of the originally drawn object.
But the text types without word wrap, and I want word wrap set as a default
for this... is that possible?

Sorry, the method I described works only for text boxes. The only way I
know in your case is to right click the image, choose format and change text
wrapping settings there.

I'm not sure of the reason for the Shift key. You simply need to click any
shape that can contain text and start typing.

I don't think you can set the wordwrap default for shapes this way though.
Quick, somebody prove me wrong. Please?

You have to provide the line breaks. My guess is that text on autoshapes was
meant to be a label, not sentences or paragraphs. For the latter, I would
probably create a text box and then give it a fill and line to look like a drawn
autoshape.

The annoying thing is that text in an autoshape WILL wordrwrap but you have to go
through the formatting dialog box each time to set that option. It doesn't hold as
one of the shape defaults, unfortunately.

I suppose the other option is to create a shape, set the wordwrap and other stuff
the way you want it, then copy/paste to get additional copies of it as needed.
