How do I set which equations to show in the equation menu?

I want to change which equations are shown when I click on the insert
equation button. When I add equations they show, but I cannot hide those
offered by default.

Hi R.,

Assuming you're referring to Word 2007, the Equation gallery samples are stored building blocks. You can use
Insert=>Quick Parts=>Building Block organizer,
sort by Gallery, and remove the ones you do not want, or rename them, or start a new category for yours, as they're listed
alphabetically by category.
