How do I set up a master slide with 2 text boxes?

When Is et up a master slide and then go to the normal view and choose in the
slide layout the slide with wo text boxes (or any other slide that is not the
title and text box) the predertemined instructions for font size and bullet
indentation disappear the text box just has other instructions is there a way
for that to not happen.

I'm not quite positive, but I think you answered the same question I have. I
set up a slide design and made it a template. When I apply the template to a
new presentation, the text boxes I had in the template design don't show up
(only on the title master). They DO show up on the subsequent slides.

Is this normal in version 2003?

You can't create your own placeholders in PPT 2003, so, based on your
description, it sounds as if your're seeing the normal behavior.

Thank you...I'm sorry--but I want to clarify. So in order to add my title as
I want it in the presentation, I just have to add the text boxes manually in
the presentation? When I go to slide master view, it shows the placeholders
for the title--why would it do that if I can't use them in the presentation?
(I'm not challenging you---just curious).

I think I should have started my own strand. There is obviously something
I'm not understanding about slide/title masters. I'll start from the top.
My company has a PPT presentation that I made into a template by saving as
..pot. I opened a new blank presentation and did a right click on the
thumbnail slide (on the left) and selected "slide design." When the slide
design task pane opened, I found my .pot (the company branded template) and
selected "Apply to All Slides." It seemed to work, but I thought I'd see the
text box placeholders for the title page in the open presentation but they
did not appear. When I look at the slide master view, the text boxes are
there on the title page, but when I look at the normal view, they are not.
When I look at the subsequent page slide master, the text boxes are shown in
both slide master and normal views.

I think what you said before may apply--that this is normal. My thinking
was that the text boxes/graphics, etc that I see in the slide master view"
will be there in the normal view. Is that incorrect?

Thanks again for your help.

Aha! Thanks for this info -- it makes your question much clearer. :)

In most templates, there are two slide masters. One is a "regular" Slide
Master, the other is a Title Master.

The Title Master applies to any slide that uses a Title Slide Layout. The
other, the "regular" Slide Master, applies to slides based on any of the
other layouts -- Title + Text, Title + Content, Title Only, etc. You can see
the list of available slide layouts if you go to Format | Slide Layout.

I think you may just need to apply the Title Slide Layout to your slide so
it picks up the Title Master specifications (and placeholders). So, select
that slide in the slide thumbnail pane on the left of the screen, choose
Format | Slide Layout, then click the Title Slide Layout in the pane on the
right.

Is that what you're looking for?

To add to Echo's suggestions, you might want to right-click the selected
layout in the task pane, and select the Reapply Layout option. Sometimes you
need to do this twice to get the slides to look consistent.

as
.pot. I opened a new blank presentation and did a right click on the
thumbnail slide (on the left) and selected "slide design." When the
slide
design task pane opened, I found my .pot (the company branded template)
and
selected "Apply to All Slides." It seemed to work, but I thought I'd
see
the
text box placeholders for the title page in the open presentation but
they
did not appear. When I look at the slide master view, the text boxes
are
there on the title page, but when I look at the normal view, they are
not.
When I look at the subsequent page slide master, the text boxes are
shown
in
both slide master and normal views.

I think what you said before may apply--that this is normal. My
thinking
was that the text boxes/graphics, etc that I see in the slide master
view"
will be there in the normal view. Is that incorrect?

Thanks again for your help.

:

What is it you're trying to do, Hammy? I don't quite understand what
it
is
you're asking. (That's why I kind of waffled in my initial response to
you.)

For example, I don't know what this

So in order to add my title as
I want it in the presentation,

means.

And earlier, you said

When I apply the template to a
new presentation, the text boxes I had in the template design
don't show up (only on the title master).

What textboxes did you have in the template design?

Remember, we can't see what you're doing there....

Thank you...I'm sorry--but I want to clarify. So in order to add my
title
as
I want it in the presentation, I just have to add the text boxes
manually
in
the presentation? When I go to slide master view, it shows the
placeholders
for the title--why would it do that if I can't use them in the
presentation?
(I'm not challenging you---just curious).

:

You can't create your own placeholders in PPT 2003, so, based on
your
description, it sounds as if your're seeing the normal behavior.

I'm not quite positive, but I think you answered the same
question I
have.
I
set up a slide design and made it a template. When I apply the
template
to a
new presentation, the text boxes I had in the template design
don't
show
up
(only on the title master). They DO show up on the subsequent
slides.

Is this normal in version 2003?

:

Only in PPT 2007.

When Is et up a master slide and then go to the normal view
and
choose
in
the
slide layout the slide with wo text boxes (or any other slide
that
is
not
the
title and text box) the predertemined instructions for font
size
and
bullet
indentation disappear the text box just has other instructions
is
there
a
way
for that to not happen.
