How do I set line spacing to be less than 1 in Powerpoint?

In previous versions of Powerpoint you could decrement the line spacing of a
text box in units of 0.05, e.g you could set it to 0.95, 0.9, 0.85 etc. I
used this facility regularly to shrink text boxes without reducing font size.
Now Powerpoint 2007 is just giving me five options for line spacing - 1.0,
1.5, 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0. Is there really no way of setting the line spacing to
less than 1 or have I just not found it yet? As usual, the "help" was no
help :-(

Dave,
Seems to me that this is still possible, when you click on the listarrow
next to the line spacing button, at the bottom you can choose options for
line spacing, next to line spacing click on the arrow and choose the last
item more (don't know the exact wording) type in your setting (you can type
values from 0 to 0.99 I think) and hit enter.
Does this help?

PPT 2007?

In the line spacing dropdown, choose More Options. Then set the line to
"multiple" and type in .8 or .95 or whatever. You can also open this dialog
box by clicking the dialog launcher (the little square) in the lower right
corner of the Paragraph Group (on the Home tab).

Don't shoot the messenger. I know this dialog box sucks. I think it's a
leftover from Word -- not designed for PPT users at all, and from the looks
of it, no consideration of our needs went into its design.

Hi Dave

If you are familiar with the menu structure in 2003 you may find this
spreadsheet handy:
Where have all the commands gone?

I'm really disappointed w/ MSFT that this is the only option available to
minimize line spacing below 1.0. When working in text boxes and aligning
sentences, etc, it was so helpful to have the shrink button like you still
have the expand button. A serious flaw in this version. Can this be added
through an upgrade?

I tried to comprehend the solutions given by others but I am afraid found
them equally confusing. But I figured it out. To set the line spacing,
block the lines you wish to set, right click, choose 'Paragraph' and set the
line spacing there to any value you like. Similarly, choose here the spacing
between the paragraphs can be set by choosing the space after and before the
paragraph.

If you want less than one line of space (single spacing), choose "multiple"
there and type in ".85" or whatever -- just so it's less than 1.00.
