How do I set file permissions and file sharing in Window XP?

Hello;

I have four computers networked today through a Netgeat router. 2 of the
machines are running XP Home and 2 machines are running XP PRO. All hard
drives are NTFS drives. Will someone please tell me how to set the
permissions and security, etc. so I can have full open, copy, paste, save
capabilities.

Sometimes I get a file permissions error or sharing violation error when I
try to save across the network.

I have already right clicked on a drive or folder, chosen properties/sharing
and have shared the folder or drive - the small share hand shows on the
folder or drive. Is there anything else I need to do?
