How do I send MS attachments to a recipient using Lotus Notes?

They are receiving my Excel and Word attachments as a win.dat file and are
unable to open it. Is there some Outlook setting I can change that will
ensure they are sent as **.doc and **.xls files?

You are composing your message in Rich Text format, which only other Outlook
users can read. Use HTML or Plain Text format.
