How do I save a large file in Word 2000

I have a user who is writing a book using graphics and her file sizes for
each chapter are over 100mb in size. when she saves her .doc file it locks up
her PC and then it needs to be re-booted with the file not being saved. I
added an extra 256mb of Ram to her PC giving her a total of 512mb. Thinking
that would correct her problem. (NOPE) The only thing I can think of now is
that her file sizes are to big to save using Microsoft Word 2000. Is there a
setting I am missing some where or should she be using a different software.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Steve,
A few suggestions:
chedk for sufficient hard disk space
delete all temp files
If the images were inserted with copy/paste, download or convert originals
and use insert, picture command
choose tools, options, view and click to place a checkmark next to picture
placeholders prior to save
if you suspect document corruption, you can try a copy/paste of entire
document EXCEPT the last backward P symbol to a new document
and finally, consider using Word's master document feature. This is a
document that contains a set of related documents. You should use a master
document to organize and maintain long large file by dividing it into
smaller, more manageable subdocuments, as chapters of the book. In Word, just
choose help, and type Master Document.
Hope something works for you.
Cheers,
Annie
