How do I retrieve an updated word doc. which reverted to old save.

Please help, while compiling an assessment the office assistant asked if I
wanted to revert to my saved word.doc. Thinking my updated assessment was
the saved doc. I answered yes and lost 8 hours of work. Can I retrieve the
information which was on the updated document?
