how do I resolve 503 error

I just set up two email addresses to work with outlook. Everything completed
successfully. I was even able to read emails in both accounts. However, when
I tried to send an email, I get the following error:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 10/10/2005 9:04 PM
503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to
send to a non-local e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or
contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined
for this server.
How can I resolve this. Thanks for your help.

Um, set up authentication as the error message suggests?
