How do I resize the font in Outlook 2007's reading pane.

Some email comes in with a very small font. I want to be able to increase
the size of the font in the reading pane.

Thanks for responding but that only adjusts the font of outgoing messages.
I wand to increase the font size of received messages.

Since that is chosen by the sender, one must wonder what it is you are
expecting to be able to do. Outlook can't override the sender's choice
unless the message is in plain text. Few messages are nowadays, and the
one's with small font most certainly are not.

I am looking for some type of text zoom function. I have a plugin for FF
that does that and even IE 7 has a similar function. Does Outlook not have
anything like that.

This works with most programs>
Hold down 'Ctrl" key and use scroll on mouse to enlarge /decrease font.

The Reading Pane is not an Internet Browser because it has higher security
restrictions. You can certainly view any message in your Internet Browser
and increase or decrease the font to your heart's content.

Im cool with the font size, it s the actual font itself. Ever since I have
been GUI, I have done everything in my power to eliminate looking at anything
that smacks of "Courier". However the options for tweaking fonts in Outlook
2007 do not include one for changing the font in the Reading Pane (unlike
Outlook 2003).

Is there a way? FWIW I am cool with tweaking my registry if that's what it
will take.

But how do I get it to remember my font size from one message to the next?

The next message defaults to a too small font size again.

html or plain text messages? you can set the font size for plain text in
tools, options, message format, fonts.

Thank you for the reply but I need to change html.

I thought I had found the answer in editing the template "NormalEmail.dotm
and increasing the size of the fonts there but am not yet sure if it works
consistently. It does seem that some messages are respecting this but others
in appear to have an overriding style sheet (specifying the size and font)
and I can't locate where I can tell Outlook to use an overriding style sheet
I would have to write. (On which I would need help)

Thanks again - Andy.

You have less control over html - there is a checkbox on the mail format tab
to override css. If that doesn't work, you'll need to use zoom or larger
text sizes (view menu)

I do have that box checked and thought that it would use my IE style sheet,
(which is set for a larger font and changes of colours white on black so the
change is obvious) ) but it does not appear to, and there is no path to tell
it which style sheet to use.

With that box on of off I do not notice any change, so do you know how I
tell it the style sheet to use.

I don't think you can tell it what style sheet to use - it uses the one
assigned to the message and that setting overrides it, using the default
fonts set in outlook or within the HTML tags.

Outlook 2007 doesn't use IE's settings, Word does the rendering.
