I hold down the CTRL key and rotate my mouse's wheel upward. Of course,
that's only with Plain Text messages. For formatted message, Outlook will
display the fonts chosen by the original sender. You may also be able to
click Tools>Options>Mail Format>Fonts and select the radio button labeled
"Always use my fonts". I believe, however, that won't affect the Reading
Pane, only the replies and forwards.

If you just want to enlarge it for reading purposes, click on forward and you
can can change it to suit your preferences. When you are through reading,
simply close the window.
