How do I remove the dual boot choice at startup?

CMD

I am running XP. I have removed Win7 from a separate drive, but I still have
the dual boot choice.

How can I remove this choice and boot directly into XP?

Click Start>Run>type "msconfig" - select "boot.ini" tab - check
"Check all boot paths".

That won't work, the computer is using the Windows 7 bootloader. The OP
could use the EasyBCD utility as suggested by Jerry or he could use the
Windows 7 Bootsect.exe utility to return the boot process to the Windows
XP ntldr boot manager:

x:\Boot\Bootsect.exe –NT52 All

where 'x' is the drive letter of the Windows 7 media. It's explained here:

(See "Removing Windows Vista from a dual-boot configuration" toward the
end of the article)
