How do I remove "ready only" from existing word document?

I have been unable to remove the "Read Only" feature from my existing
document. Can you help?
 
Go to options, and then the security part, there is a box that says read only
recommended, untick that box, that might work
 
In Windows explorer, locate the document, right click on the document select
properties and the general tab. In the attributes at the bottom of the
properties dialogue box, uncheck Read-Only.

Unless the document is stored on a CD, when it will always be read only.
