How do I remove an "old type" program from my XP computer?

I recently installed an old program onto my XP computer, and now want to
remove it and install it in a different directory. However, there is no
uninstall that came with it, and, it does not show up in Control
Panel/Add-Remove Programs.

I deleted the program and its folder, but when I attempt to install it (into
a new directory/folder), using the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, I get
a message that it "is currently installed" (in the original location), and
I'm asked, "Update this installation?" If I click Yes, the program is
merely reinstalled where it was before.

What happens if click "No"?
I've got a feeling I should delete some other files before doing that, is
that true?
But if so, what and where?

Some older programs do not add a Uninstall to the
Control Panel Add/Remove. However, they did leave
a Uninstall.Exe or something similar in the Program
Group for the App or inside the actual program folder.
Re-install it back to where it originally was - then look
in the Program Group or folder for the Uninstall module.
