Change it to empty. Don't put anything in the New password and Verify
password fields.

When we try to open Outlook it now asks for a password. We put the password
in and it works.

We tried to remove the password by using Brian's suggestion. But it says
the password is not valid. It seems unusually difficult to simply remove a
password. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

There are multiple passwords for which Oultook might prompt. What's the title
of the dialogue in which you successfully enter a password?

I have the same problem. I have an XP machine, Outlook 2007 (upgraded from
2003 recently). I password-protected my personal folders, and now i can't
remove it. If I try to "change" the password and leave the new password
empty, or tab through it, it does not allow me to do it. It says "Password is
incorrect". If I shut down and re-open Outlook, I still have to enter my old
password. Is there somewhere on the (confusing and poorly organized) MS
website that i can find an answer?

thanks

Open outlook click file open Data File Mang. in the Data Files tab make sure
you HIGHLIGHT Personal Folders then click Settings now click Change Password
enter old password and leave new password blank... most of the problem people
are having is that the Personel Folder is not highlighted before they hit the
settings...

My employee has us locked out of MS Outlook 2007. Does anyone know the steps
to recover or override the password? The message displays Personal Folders
Password, Type the password for Outlook.
Any ideas?

It's unlikely that your employer added a password to any of your PSTs. They
would have had to visit your PC, run Outlook, then add the password.
