How do I regain control of my cursor

My cursor has started wandering all over the place when I start typing. makes
it difficult to operate.
 
You are almost certainly using a computer with a touch pad mouse thingy that
needs it sensitivity reduced or needs to be disabled altogether and you need
to use an external mouse instead.
