how do I reduce the size of a picture I am attaching?

I can't seem to be able to reduce the file size of a photo I have saved in
windows photo manager if I attach it in an email I originate with outlook.
If I originate an email through my photo program, it automatically reduces
the size so it can download easier.

You need to look for the "Resize..." option under the "Tools" menu within
Microsoft Picture Manager and 'manually' resize the photo yourself.

Without knowing the name of the Photo Program I cannot guess why or how it
automatically resizes the photo for e-mailing. It must have a Preference
setting with a default value something like, 'Automatically resize attached
photos for e-mailing' and maybe a size limit (10 Kb, 50 Kb, or 1 Mb) that it
uses as parameters to accomplish the task.

kb,
Instead of using the Insert function in the New Mail message. Have you tried
to Right click the image in the folder that it is stored in. Then Send To>
Mail Recipient> Option to Reduce photos> Outlook should start a new message,
with the photo attached.

Also if you want to send multiple photos in a single email message. You will
need to first, have a copy of them in a single folder. Highlight all the
photos, in the folder, you want to send, Right click one of them> Send To>
Mail Recipient> Option to Reduce photos> Outlook should start a new message,
with the photos attached.
