How do I reduce the range of a saved worksheet?

I have been working on a file with several worksheets. Each worksheet was
only about 15 columns wide by 50 lines long. Somehow, before the most recent
save, the size of the file went from 3MB to 12MB. No new columns or rows
were added from the previous save. The only thing I have noticed that has
changed is that when I press the Ctrl and End keys, I am taken to the cell
AM1566 in each worksheet. There is no data in any cells beyond Column O, Row
50.

I have tried deleting all rows and columns out to AM1566 except for those I
am using but this did not fix the problem.

Sometimes, after deleting all the unused rows & columns that appear to be
used, you still need to save, close, and re-open the sheet to see the
results. Have you tried that?

You say you've deleted the excess rows and columns, but have you actually
deleted them or just cleared the contents? Clearing the contents wont do,
you have to completely delete the rows and columns.
For the rows enter in the name box 51:65536, enter, right click in the
highlighted area and hit 'Delete'. For the columns, enter in the name box
again P:IV and repeat the process. Save the file and that should do the job,
Regards,
Alan.

This is not working for me. Even if I save, close, and re-open, nothing
happens or changes. I've also tried to run some macros to no avail. What
could be the hang-up? Any ideas?

Thank you,
Jessica
