How do I promote and demote text to different levels in P Point 2.

I have not been able to find the promote and demote buttons on Power Point
2003, nor have I been able to find any information about how to do this
without the buttons. I have set up a master slide, and want to change text
on individual slides to a different level set up on a master slide. Can you
still do this? I have searched the help menu but have been unable to find
any information at all.

What Glenna said.

Also, if you're editing text in the Outline view or have the insertion cursor
in the text box itself in Slide/Normal view, TAB demotes, SHIFT+TAB promotes
text.

In outline view, the cursor can be anywhere in the text you want to
promote/demote. In Slide/Normal view, the cursor has to be at the beginning of
a line of text or the entire line (or lines) of text must be selected.
Otherwise pressing tab simply enters a tab character in the text
