How do I prevent Outlook switching to US English?

I have set my Windows default lanhuage to UK English, and I have also set my
Outlook default language to UK English. However, whenever I send an email,
the language that it uses is US English.

This is really annoying, as it keeps telling me that I've misspelled words
that are correct.

Is there a way of forcing Outlook (and all other programs for that matter)
to only use my language?

Ideally, I would like to remove the US dictionary, as I'm never likely to
become an American.

Yes I did. I also set the default dictionary back to UK English every time I
reply to an email and it does a US spell check. It's VERY annoying.

I also tell it NOT to detect the languiage automatically.

How about if you set it via Options -> Spelling tab?

I don't know why this happens to you; mine remains on the language I set
it to.

Yes. Done all that. It's ok if I create a new email, but whenever I reply to
a mail from somebody else, it switches back to US English.

It isn't just this PC either, or this version of Windows. i've had the same
thing on 3 machines. 2 running Win2k, and one with XP. All using Outlook 2003.

What I really want to do is find some way of completely removing
dictionaries other than the one that I want to use. That way it wouldn't be
able to switch.

I've tried going to Regional and Language Settings in the control Panel and
deleting US English from the list there (it adds it by default on a new
installation, just in case you decide that you'd really like to be an
American after all).

It's driving me CRAZY!

It's ok. I've found it now.

As well as the control panel regional and language settings, and Outlook
options, there is a THIRD place that you need to look. In Microsoft Office,
Office Tools there is a language settings program which also allows you to
select your language. That had (for some reason best known to itself) got US
English as the default language. This only seems to be used when you reply to
an email, as new emails I created used UK English.

Anyway, it allowed me to remove US English altogether, so I seem to be ok.
