How do I prevent Outlook from doing a send/receive on startup? Can't find
the setting anywhere but I know I've seen it before.

There is no such setting.
This behavior depends on your Outlook version, connection type and automatic
polling settings, none of which you mentioned.

In Outlook 2003, excerpted from the help files

Options dialog box - can be found in the Tools pull-down menu, select
Options...
The Microsoft Outlook Options dialog box is where most Outlook settings can
be specified.

Mail setup tab

E-mail Accounts section

E-mail Accounts- Click the button to go to the dialog box to change the
e-mail accounts and directories.
Send/Receive section

Send immediately when connected check box- Select the check box if you want
Outlook to perform a send/receive as soon as it is connected...

I believe what you are referring to is the Send immediately when connected
check box.

Turn off scheduled mail polling. When setting Outlook to poll every N
minutes, the zeroeth minute is included (thus the mail poll on startup).
Thereafter you will have to remember to do the mail polls yourself.

Thanks Guys - I guess the setting I am looking for doesn't exist. I love my
automatic polling. I just wish it wouldn't do it when it first starts up
because thats when all the plugins are starting up too. Outlook is pretty
much immobile for about 30-45 seconds when I first open it up while it
sends/receives and loads 3 different plugins. I'll just have to live with
this I guess.
