Dear Lanwench,

Thank you for attempting to answer my question. I have Office 2003. I do
not want to have my messages automatically opened in case there is a virus my
Norton misses. I want to be able to select the label without the message
opening up unless I double click on my mouse. I did not understand what you
meant by the terms, "mode" or "level."

True off the reading pane - see the view menu. Note that it's quite safe to
use the reading pane.
