how do i paste clipboard image in powerpoint 2003

When i try to paste a screen image captured into the clipboard into
powerpoint 2003, nothing happens. Instead a workaround is to paste the same
way but in excel and then i select this image and paste again in power point
2003 and then it works. Is there a way i can copy the image directly to
powerpoint 2003 (as it worked in powerpoint 2000)?
 
You should be able to paste directly into PPT.

Do you have SP-1 installed for Office 2003? It fixed a number of bizarre
issues with images not showing up in PPT. Go to Help/Check for Updates to
install it.

If that doesn't fix it, try turning down hardware acceleration.
