The Vista SP1 Technical Beta program is not accepting any new participants.
It was an invitation only technical beta and has been running for some time
now.
The SP1 is currently scheduled or released in Q1 next year.

Microsoft is always striving to improve the quality of theie products.
Windows Update is one of the great examples of this effort, since its
implementation, Microsoft has continually improved the service to deliver
improved experience for Windows, software and hardware devices. Windows
Vista SP1 is currently in testing as of this writing. It is expected to be
released sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

Probably to late for this Beta since it has been on for a while and
release will probably be the early part of 2008.

If you may have an interest in a future Beta, create a Beta profile:
http://connect.microsoft.com/
See what connections are available.
When you find one or more you will be seriously interested in, apply.
That way you can become known to the Beta community and as you are
experienced, more opportunities may be offered.
If you may have an interest in Beta Testing Windows 7 in a few years,
start now.
Once the Beta is starting, your chances for being selected are already
slim as they are for you and the SP-1 Beta at this time.

This is the best thing to do. It still took me about a year before MS
invited me into the Vista program in 2006.
