How do I open a word document in my email

Can anyone tell me how to open my word documents from my yahoo email? I just
downloaded Microsoft Office word, but it keeps opening in NOTEPAD. Any help
would be so apprciated. Thank you to all that can help!

A/ You need M/Soft Word installed to open M/Soft Word documents

B/ It's Word Processor so there is no relationship to email programmes

C/ You have to buy it - so if you have downloaded it illegally you should
remove it before the policeman comes knocking

Do the documents you are trying to open have a .doc extension?
How are you trying to open them, from within Yahoo mail, or do
you save the attachment first, then you double-click on the saved file?
