How do I move my files from one computer to another

I'm having serious issues moving my website files from one computer to
another... so that I can start publishing from a different source.

I can't publish to my NEW local machine unless I open the website site first
(since the option to publish is grayed out unless site is open). How can I
open the site unless I zip the files and move them physically (something
that I have read... that you should not do). I've also read that you should
not import them either. It seems that you should only publish to the new
local drive.

Is it really necessary to have FrontPage extension on the new local computer
before doing this?

Please help.... my site is down since only partial files are transferring.
I seem to be having problems with the _private folder.

Thanks for the article. I went back to my original computer (comp1) and
republished everything. This solves my immediate problem of my site not
working. I can now concentrate on changing computers.

The link you provided tells me what to do but does not say how to do it. My
two computers are networked together and the website has FPExt. According
to the instructions, "open the source web in FrontPage - this can be done
from either computer."

How is this done from Comp2 that has no files on the local drive?

Think I have it.
Since the two computers are networked, I opened the site (w/ FP) on comp1
from comp2 using a networked drive, then published it as a disc based to
comp2.

After this, from the new comp2, it took several times of trying to publish
to the server before it completed. Kept getting server errors. It finally
completed. I will run a full test and let you know.

You also can publish to a new folder on the comp 1 then remove / delete all
the _vt* files then burn that folder to a CD-R and now you have a backup of
your web in the event of a HD failure or to transfer to another PC

I have been experimenting with removing the _vt* files.
If you remove all of them, will that make the file portable to move anywhere
you want them?

Forgot to thank you for your help, therefore, thanks.
Just an added note, I noticed nothing mentions the fact that you may have
files set to "Don't Publish" at which they will not transfer, even if you
publish to disk option.

Just an fyi
