How do I make pictures appear individually?

In Powerpoint, I know how to make the text appear line by line when I click
the mouse, but how do I make pictures appear on the screen one by one as
opposed to them all appearing at once?

You need to set a custom animation for each picture. The details of how
to do this depend on which version of PowerPoint you are using, but if
you click on a picture and select Custom Animation from Slide Show menu,
it should get you started.
