How do I maintain 2007 SmartArt animation on another computer

I have been playing with lists and org charts etc using the Smart Art options
in PowerPoint 07 and applying animation. However having just loaded the final
presentation onto one of the computers in the lecture halls I have realised
that all my SmartArt animations are not working.
I have tried it with the presentation saved as a 2007 ppt file, plus as a
compatible ppt (97-003) file and also as a 2007 Microsoft PowerPoint Slide
Show and I have installed the 2007 viewer on the other PC (which is only XP).
I also packed it for CD though couldn't tell what the difference was...

Was all my creative work in vain?!

Thanks,
Corinne.

Strictly speaking, there really isn't a 2007 viewer; it's more of a hotrodded
2003 viewer that knows how to read 2007 files and convert them to the earlier
format. In effect, it's more or less like saving your 2007 file in 97-03 format
and playing back on the old viewer or in an older version of PPT; since these
don't support any of the new features, there's liable to be some loss of
fidelity.

In other words, to get all of the capabilities of PPT 2007, you'll need to play
back in 2007.

Echo's the real expert on this, so if anything she says contradicts this, go
with her advice.

I don't have time to test right now, but there are actually 2 PPT 2007
Viewers.

One shipped with PPT 2007 and is used for Package for CD. It will only read
97-2003 format files, which is why PPT 2007 package for CD actually
backsaves to 97-2003 format. This Viewer is really just a later version of
the 2003 Viewer. It won't read 2007 format files.

The one that is on the MS download pages is the latest version of the 2003
Viewer + the compatibility pack, so it will open 2007 format files. But I
don't recall if the smartart animations are maintained in it or not.
Probably not, is my guess. I'd also like to see what it does with chart and
table animations, as those are additional new PPT 2007 features that may not
translate well.
