how do I lock part of the word document?

I have a word document that a portion of it need to be locked so that nobody
can change it. The other portion is open to the users who can enter texts,
apply styles or images. I have tried to use the forms and applied protection
but it doesn't allow the users to apply text styles and images.

The access in this newsgroup's title refers to Microsoft Access, a
