How do I know WET is actually working?

I've bought the cable (belkin), installed the software on the XP box (sp2),
downloaded and installed the companion and set the process running. Its been
running for 3 hours (I think) but its hard to tell because there is no
progress meter and I don't know where to look for temporary files etc. on
vista.

My question is: how can I tell if anything is happening?

When I used Windows Easy Transfer, I did it in moderately sized batches so I
could verify the results as I went along, probably 15 minutes at a time.
Three hours is way too long to wait to find out that it didn't work as you
planned.
