How do I keep outlook open on my desktop after I exit?

Currently when I click the "X" button to exit Outlook, it signs me out of my
email. I know there is a way to set Outlook up so that when I click the X it
closes the program from my screen but does not sign me out. Rather, I can
still access my email through the Outlook icon that should come up in the
toolbar on the bottom right of my desktop. Does anyone know how to set this
up?
Thank you.

What version are you using? On 2007 and maybe other versions, if you right
click on the outlook icon in the notification area of the taskbar (by the
clock), you can choose to hide outlook when minimized. When you want to bring
it back up, simply doubleclick on the icon in the notification area. However,
this behaviour is when using the minimize button, not the X.
