How do I install SATA disk with XP installed on a new motherboard.

Grateful for any help you experts can offer. I've searched this and
other groups for a previous thread but couldn't find one (probably cos
I used the wrong terminology in my search).
Anyway, I needed more hard drive space so bought a new 300 gig Maxtor
SATA drive to go with my existing 160 gig Maxtor SATA, split into 2
partitions with Windows on one partition. Also have a 40 gig EIDE
drive. Upgrade required a new case, as I had no room for a 3rd drive.
During move from one case to another I appear to have broken my MSI K8T
Neo motherboard (unable to POST despite all attempts) so have now
bought an Abit AV8 mobo.
My question is this: how do I get the new mobo to recognise the
existing Windows installation.

Many thanks in advance.

You need to do at least a 'repair install' when using a new motherboard.

Many thanks to Neil and Malke (and Michael Stevens). Just for future
information I discovered a variation on the approved method, as
follows:
After getting the system to load the SATA drivers from floppy by
pressing F6 the installation progressed normally and eventually
recognised both the SATA discs (I had disconnected the IDE drive). As I
was not sure what was on the boot partition and was afraid of losing
all my data, I decided to start a fresh install on the new SATA disc.
This eventually ground to a halt when it asked me to insert the SP1
disc (which I don't have) and couldn't find a file called asms. While
searching the groups for answers to that one I decided to try booting
without the disc and with only the old SATA drive connected. Lo and
behold it booted up straight away and all I then had to do was load all
the drivers for the new mainboard and reactivate XP over the internet.
I have yet another problem now in that the second SATA disc is
formatted and partitioned and works well but only if I boot into
Windows befre I connect it. If I try to boot with both SATA discs
connected I get a "boot error" message. Will search the groups and post
another question if necessary. Thanks again to all.
