I have a legacy access 97 mde app and no mdb (it was lost). I am working
onconverting the mde to VB6 but want to run the 97 mde on my machine so I can
compare results side by side. When I install access 97 the setup says
product not installed. I followed the ttf rename bit and regedt32 part of
the kb doc with no avail. I have also uninstalled Office 2003 and tried the
same operations but it keeps failing.

Further info: I've tried the font rename article. I have tried the temp
directory rename article. I saw one porting saying remove SP2 and install 97
then reinstall SP2. I have an OEM version w/ sp2 in it and I can not
uninstall SP2! I guess I am out of luck unless anyone knows something I
don't... (what a waste of a day)

Call off the dogs... I ahve managed to install it in my last attempt. I ran
the msjet update for 3.5 (the memory issue). I uninstalled 2003 and renamed
the directory to another name completely. I then installed access 97 only
and it bombed with a vbe.dll error so I logged in as local admin and re-ran
setup. It bombed again but on the accwiz.dll but when I tried to run
msaccess.exe it ran up fine... Then I logged back in as myself and ran up
acc97 again just fine. I reinstalled 2003 and tried both acc97 and acc2003
and it is working just fine right now... Don't know 100% why but I hit the
right combination some where...
