I've got Word 2007 and I'm sure that in previous versions you could insert
autotext displaying the total number of pages. I can find page numbering, of
course, but where has the total numbers autotext command gone?

Thanks for any help anyone can give!

Word uses the NUMPAGES field to display the total number of pages. You can
insert the field manually in the header or footer, by pressing Ctrl+F9 to
insert field delimiters, { }, and then typing NUMPAGES. Press F9 to update.
(Note that you can use Alt+F9 to show/hide field codes.)

For easy reuse, you can then select the whole "page x of y" construct and
create your own building block/AutoText entry.
