How do I include chapter headings in the table of contents?

I am writing a document (Word 2002) that includes chapter headings and
chapter numbers as part labels. I want to include these in my table of
contents, however I only seem to have the option to put 'headings' into the
table. Is there a way to customise this?

Thanks

You can include any style in the TOC. In Insert/Reference/Index and
Tables/Table of Contents, click Options. You should see a list of styles.
Check the box next to the style names you want picked up in the TOC.

If you're not using styles for the chapter headings and numbers, then you can
insert TC fields, instead, and activate the checkbox "Table entry fields" to
include them in the TOC. You'll find more information if you search Word's
Help on "TC field"
