How do I import messages from Outlook Express 5 (on an old machine) into
Outlook 2003 on my new machine. I have transferred all of the .dbx files into
a folder on the new m/c, but the import wizard does not let me select the
folder that the .dbx files are in.

You are not importing from the program that way, you are trying to import
files. Subtle but important difference.

If you go to Outlook Express with the messages in you can choose to export
to Outlook.

Or if you look in the help file in your copy of Outlook it starts:

To import from Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Mail and Messenger, and
Microsoft Internet Mail:
1.. Click Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and then click Next
etc.......

You cannot import into Outlook this way, you will need to restore the files
into Outlook Express first and then export to Outlook.
