I am trying to import data from my Outlook program on my Home computer and
running into difficulties. My home machine is Windows 98 and I have Office XP
running on it. I have successfully exported the .pst file from the Home
computer on to a CD, using a burner.

When I try to import it on to my office computer (Windows XP and Office
2003), I use the import/export wizard. I browse for the CD ROM drive and the
Outlook symbol shows up correctly on the CD. But when I click to import I get
a message “File access denied: You do not have permission required to access
D:/Outlook.pstâ€. This seems to imply that I created the file at home under
some sort of protected network, which is not I think the case.

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

You need to copy the PST file from the CD to the hard drive and remove the
read-only attribute. (all activitivies with a PST file will require read &
write access.)
