I can't seem to find the way to do this in the updated program--
Hide them WHERE? In the Deleted Items folder? You visit the Deleted
Items folder but don't want to see anything there? I suppose you could
define a view that doesn't show any messages. You could enable the
option to empty the Deleted Items folder when you exit so you would only
see the deleted items from the current session of Outlook (i.e., they
would be gone the next time you ran Outlook).
Or do you mean you are using an IMAP account and when you delete an item
it shows as red-lined (i.e., it is still listed but with a red line
through it). That's how IMAP works (in Outlook); see
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP052426151033.aspx?Product=out2003
(but then just using the Help that is already included in Outlook would
tell you that, too). Deleting your local copy does NOT delete the
server copy of the message. You need to run Purge to remove the
delete-marked messages. You can add a Purge button to the toolbar to
make it easier to get to this function rather than having to navigate to
the "Edit -> Purge Deleted Messages" menu each time. From what I've
heard, Outlook Express will automatically purged delete-marked messages
when you change focus to a different folder, but Outlook won't do that.
This was behavior under OL2002. Don't know if OL2003 improved IMAP
support.
