How do I hide a folder in the Folder List?

I have several mailboxes that I need to keep open in my folder list view, but
I don't need the slew of subfolders that go with them. Is there a way to
delete/hide all the unnecessary ones?

For example, I don't need task list, journal, etc.

I am in Outlook 2003 on a corporate LAN, with Windows XP as my OS.

You misunderstood...I don't want to collapse the foler, or I won't see the
inbox. I jsut don't want to see all the other folders that appear when I
have the mailbox open. I ONLY want to see the inbox. The remaining folders
I have no use for, and they take up too much room in the folder list. Is
there a way to delete them or permanently hide them?

You could use the "Shortcuts" panel, and just add the required folders
as shortcuts. You'd need to switch to the Shortcuts panel each time
you lunch Outlook, though.

Put the desired Inboxes in the "Favorites" and then Hide everything else
only leaving "Favorites" open.
