How Do I get the IE6 Browser Status Bar (with the security lock) to appear?

I'm not sure when this happened, or what I may have done
to cause this, but in my IE 6 on XP Home Edition, the ie
6.0 status bar (that shows the internet zone and the
security lock )is missing. can someone help me get it
back?

I have installed the Yahoo companion tool bar, by the way,
but I don't recall that the yahoo companion tool bar
deleted the status bar.

I have a Compaq presario PC.

I looked in the help file and there was nothing to
suggest you could even get rid of a status bar. I tried
several sites with secure transactions and -- no luck so
it seems to be my browser setting.
I appreciate your help!
