how do I get rid of the "new mail desktop alert" in outlook 2000?

This option is not even supposed to be available in Outlook 2000. So I don't
know how i got it but need to get rid of it. It is extremely annoying when a
message pops up for each and every email i get or have not yet opened. The
whole screen is being covered up by these little devils. Help!

It is an option in Outlook 2000. IIRC; Tools-> Options-> button E-mail
Options... (perhaps even Advanced e-mail options)
