I cannot get Outlook to access my Imap emails when I am away from home. I
can get Broadband internet access and webmail but Outlook won't connect via
another internet connection. I have tried other ports and turning off the
firewall - these havn't helped

Hi Chris,

Mostly when you are on roaming, the account settings for the IMAP account
should match with the current settings of your present ISP.
Mostly the Outgoing Server settings would differ and the information should
be obtained from the ISP.
So, you need to check and change the account settings to make sure Outlook
access your IMAP account.

Also, do reply back with the errors you receive when you connect from a
different location.

Thanks,

But I can't get the ISP settings - in most cases the broadband is supplied by
the hotel/airport and there is no one to ask..How do I find the settings and
what info do I need?
Thanks

Hi,

Mostly the settings could be obtained from the hotel IT people. Also, you
could check with your email service provider to see if they do have any
particular access related issues when on roaming or connected to a different
internet connection.
Mostly, the outgoing server settings change with different internet
connections.
So its best that you consult with your ISP first.
As Outlook works at home, it mean that the email client does function.
However, when connected to a different network, its unable to access the
emails probably that the email server is not authenticating the existing
connections with the server settings.
So it's best that you contact the email service provider or the provider at
the hotel for more info.

Thanks,

Mittu
