Outlook 2002 (Outlook xp) will not remember my Email password and I have to
re-enter it every time I connect to Gmail to retrieve my mail.

This has only happened since installing Microsoft Vista.

Yep, that is because Outlook 2002 is incompatible with Windows Vista. Only
Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 are supported.

Isn't it nice that now with a $300 upgrade or purchase of a new computer you
are forced to Trash your once $400 Office XP program! Is anything planned to
fix this problem?

Yes, either stop using Office XP on Vista (open office would probably suit your tastes) or upgrade to a supported version of Office such as Office 2003 or Office 2007.
