I like to sign online late at night, but my modem seems so
much louder at night when everything is quieter. I really
need to mute my modem. It's really annoying. Please
help, how do I mute my modem? I would really appreciate
if you would email me your responce.
Thanks

Goto the control panel>>Modem. Their should be a setting there to mute or
to utrn down the volume of your modem dialing.

I guess I should have said that I already did that. I
went to phone and modem and it says "Off" already from
when I did that before. That is why I really need help
here because I thought I already did that.

Thanks

If you go into Control Panel, click on Phone and Modem Options, and then on
the Modems tab. Highlight your modem and click on the Properties button. Now
I think different modems will have different items there, but you should
have a slider for speaker volume. Move it towards off to reduce volume or to
shut off the sound completely.

well friend sandy i read your problem message.I'm giving
some suggestion.
1.Open controll panel.
2.Click printer and Other hardware.
3.Click Phone and modem options
4.and then new windows will open then click modem.
5.and you will see the modem name which you got in your
computer then click in mobem name
6.after click in modem name click in property.
7.again new windows will be open and click modem
8.and after click in modem you will see speker
volume....one side On and other side Off.
9.then you can on or off your modem sound.after click ok
I hope you will gonna slove your problem...

Go to Control Panel - Phone and Modem Options - Modems page, select the
modem in the Pane and Properties.

Enter in the 'Extra Initialisation commands'
Ln
where n is from 0 (quietest) to 3 (loudest).

If L0 is still too much, then M0 instead will turn off the speaker
entirely (M1 is the usual default to be on for the initial dialling and
'negotiation' only)
