Enable the option to schedule mail polling. You never mention WHICH
version of Outlook you are using. I have OL2002 and you configure
scheduled mail polling under Tools -> Send and Receive Settings ->
Define Send and Receive Groups.
If you need the settings for Outlook to automatically check for messages,
they are here:
In Outlook>Tools>Options>Mail Setup tab>Send/Receive button
Hope this helps,

Thanks....using your assist I was able to find the box to check to allow
messages to come thru. It is a timed event, so I set it for the shortest
allowed time period which was 1 minute. Thanks again. DinaOne

One minute for a poll interval is NOT a good idea. Set it for a minimum
of 5 minutes. You can run into problems, like getting duplicated
incoming messages, because their first mail poll hasn't completed by the
time the next one begins. Do you get such a huge flood of e-mails
within 1 minute and which you can manage to review within that 1 minute
that you really need to have such an overly short mail poll interval?
Thanks for the advise. I will reset to an increased period.
DinaOne.
