How do I get Multiple Outlook Mailboxes?

V

Viewer

Hi,

I just started a new job. We are using Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5606) and
I receive my work related email via a microsoft exchange server.
That's fine and good. I also have my web-based personal emial
configured for POP and SMTP mail service into Outlook at work.

Right now, all of my messages go into my office mailbox (i.e. "Mailbox
- John Smith"). I'd like to set up a separate mailbox that only my POP
(personal) messages deliver to. I've done a bit of searching and I
don't yet see a way. Any ideas?

Cheers!

You can create a new .pst file (unless your administrator has prevented
this) and have the POP3 account deliver to the pst file. This delivery
location is changed in Tools | Account Settings.

If you want a separate Exchange mailbox, then there are other issues to
consider. Are you going to be sending email FROM this separate POP3
address?

Create a separate mail profile for Exchange and POP3.

Why your company allows your personal mail (virus infected, trojan downloaders, etc. )inside the corporate firewall without being checked is beyond me.

Perhaps it is because you making assumptions about my "personal" email
that are based upon facts not yet entered into evidence.

Many large (and small) companies are blocking access to both POP and HTTP
email purely for that very reason....

Many companies presume (often correctly) that a personal ISP mailbox does not use the preventive measures that a corporate mail server uses.

And as for facts not in evidence, all one needs is one fact (blaster anyone?) to prove that the measures taken to prevent personal mail in the corporate environment is a disaster. Better to be proactive than spend one's weekends cleaning up and restoring mailboxes. Not your decision.
