How do I get message reminders to work in IMAP email account?

I can flag email messages and set reminders, but the reminders do not pop up
with my IMAP account. Is this a limitation or is there a setting somewhere
that will fix my problem? Thank you!
 
Most IMAP stores don't persist the reminder settings when they synch with
the online store. That's up to the store provider, you'd have to talk to
them.
